We met on August 13, 2007 at Cross of Christ Lutheran in Broomfield, with a lively group of 8 people.

Kathy Armstrong and I told the group about the annual NOBS Festival Gathering we had just gotten back from -- about all the excitement, inspiration, spirituality, creativity and fun to be had when 200+ people from every denominational background get together for four days around the telling biblical stories! Lots of workshops, performances, exciting keynote presentations, recreation opportunities, networking, and wonderful worship services every day. You've GOT to go sometime! You just might find the same wonderful experience and benefits as Kathy who, while there at her first FG, was already talking about "when I come back here next year." Not if but when!

Meanwhile, back in Colorado, our new NOBS guild is building, in momentum and in numbers of participants! At the August meeting, after our report about the FG, five people each told a biblical story. We had some discussion around the various tellings and about the experience of learning and telling a biblical story.

John McMaster wonderfully told a bit from one of the epistles in the New Testament, and we talked some about the different kind of challenge to be found when telling "by heart" from a letter instead of a narrative. Kathy and I were especially delighted, because, as we shared, the FG keynote speaker, Dr. David Rhoads from Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago, concentrated his presentations on the telling of the letters in the NT. He himself had told to us, by heart, the entire letters of Philemon, Galatians, and James.

We discussed the possibility of choosing one particular story for everyone (or many, anyway) to prepare for telling at a monthly meeting in the future. Hearing multiple tellings by different people of the same story can be a marvelous, instructional, and inspirational experience. Stay tuned for that.

It's likely that not everyone will be able to attend every monthly meeting, but it looks like we've got a core group building. Everyone attends when they can, we'll keep in touch via email, and perhaps move toward a special date (a Saturday maybe?) early next year to have a special gathering when all participants-to-date may be able to gather for a mini-gala of biblical storytelling together.

Come when you can! Hope to see you there!
